About AIDS Walk Long Beach

Our Mission

AIDS Walk Long Beach brings awareness to our communities and support for local organizations providing services to those impacted by HIV.

Since its founding in 1988 and since the first walk on March 12, 1989, AIDS Walk Long Beach has raised millions of dollars to support those most vulnerable and most in need served by Long Beach-based organizations. Funds raised support critical prevention services including free condoms, HIV and STI testing, food pantry support, case management, PrEp and PEP counseling, medication support, and social and support groups in multiple languages.

AIDS Walk Long Beach 2020 will be a virtual walk and can take place anywhere you live, work or play. Participants are encouraged to keep physically distance and walking in small, personal groups of people you live with or who are part of your social bubble. We have some route suggestions you can use or you can follow your own 5k (or 3.1 miles).

Each participant who registers is encouraged to fundraise towards our collective goal each year. This year, those who raise $50 will add an AIDS Walk Long Beach face mask to their swag bag that can be picked up the weekend of the walk. Funds collected will support not only the LGBTQ Center of Long Beach’s health programs and services, but also local agencies that provide services for people impacted by HIV. There will be no minimum fundraising total for participants, however, monies raised by individual or teams will support: mental health services, food banks, emergency support funds, medical case management, appointment transportation and support for children.
